Payne-Corley House Winter Wedding | Sam & Cat

It was such a joy to be at the Payne-Corley House for Sam & Catherine’s wedding this December. Winter weddings are so romantic; with the soft candle light and friends traveling from afar. Each part of their wedding was heartfelt and full of meaning. A majority of Cat & Sam’s guests traveled from near and far. A few of which they had not seen in a long time! So I knew a good focus of the day was going to be on their family & friends. It was the best gathering of their favorite people – all here to support their marriage and celebrate their story!

Honor & Love

The highlight of Sam & Cat’s wedding had to be when they both took time during the ceremony to honor their parents. I wish all ceremonies held this tradition, because we all truly owe it to our parents for giving us the best love and guidance. Even during the reception, Cat decided that instead of a traditional bouquet toss, she wanted to honor her mother and give her the bouquet. It was the sweetest moment!

Raindrops

The threat of rain did not put a damper on the joy that Sam & Cat had for the day. In fact….this is the first time I’ve ever had to pause a “first look” just seconds before a couple saw each other. We had everything set up perfectly and just as we were going to let Cat & Sam see each other….it started to rain! Their amazing wedding party (shout out to Ezra & Jenny!) were on standby with umbrellas and blankets to keep everyone out of the rain. What could have led these two to be upset over the rain….only led to a great memory of laughing and running toward rain cover. And thankfully the rain stopped and we were able to carry on with our day!

A Joyful Night

While I do love to capture candids throughout the day, I did have some creative ideas just in mind for their portraits. With the rain being so unpredictable, I thought it would be a good idea to create a fun night shot just in case it rained during their sparkler exit. Now, my photography style is typically the light & airy style that is solely reliant on the sunlight. But as an artist, I’m always looking for ways to learn more and improve my photography with flash. So beforehand, I made a plan for taking a night shot and WOW. It has to be one of my favorite images from their day! And it showcases Cat’s reception dress perfectly. Be sure to scroll all the way to the end of their blog to see that image!

My Darling

All-in-all; what an amazing end to my 2023 wedding year! It could not have been with a more fun-loving couple! Sam & Cat are so joyful and adorable together. Did I mention how we just loved that Sam typically calls Cat “darling” or “honey”. So endearing!

Thank you to the amazing vendor team for putting together such a remarkable event!
