Every wedding is unique, filled with special details and moments that reflect the couple’s story. But over the years, I’ve discovered a handful of shots that I take at every single wedding—moments that are so meaningful, they’ve become staples in my approach to storytelling. 1. Bride & Mom – Getting Ready
There’s something so heartfelt about this moment. After the hustle and bustle of hair, makeup, and putting on the dress, I love taking a quick, quiet portrait of the bride and her mom. It’s a moment to pause and appreciate the bond you share before stepping into the next chapter of life. This is also a deeply personal shot for me—one of my favorite photos from my own wedding is one with my mom just before I walked down the aisle. (see photo below) Trust me, this one is a keepsake you’ll treasure forever.

2. Parents During the Ceremony
While all eyes are on the couple during the ceremony, I always take a moment to capture the parents if the venue permits. Their expressions are often filled with so much emotion—pride, love, maybe even a few happy tears. These quick glances are so sweet and offer a beautiful perspective of the day from their eyes. It’s a little detail that’s easy to miss in the moment, but so meaningful to look back on later.
3. That “Just Married” Feeling
There’s nothing quite like the moment you walk back up the aisle together as newlyweds. Seconds after the ceremony ends, the realization hits—you’re officially married! This raw, unfiltered joy is one of my favorite things to capture. Whether it’s laughter, tears, or a mix of both, this moment is pure magic.
4. The Couple Walking Together
One of the most natural and symbolic photos of the day is when I capture the couple walking hand in hand—whether it’s on their way to the reception, a photo location, or simply stealing a quiet moment together. It’s a visual representation of your journey together, and it unfolds so effortlessly on a wedding day.
5. The Funny Moments
These moments may not always make it to my website homepage or Instagram, but trust me—something funny happens at every wedding! Whether it’s a spontaneous dance-off, an adorable flower girl’s mischief, or a laugh-out-loud surprise during the vows, these candid shots capture the humor and lightheartedness of your day.
