A great friend of mine (miss Abigail Ducote) and I were chatting about the art industry the other day. You see, most artist like to be surrounded by other creative artist. It is so cool to find inspiration through your friends. And I was really itching to photograph something…different. So voila! Jewelry photoshoot! Abbey was telling me how she had been dabbling in making jewelry out of broken drum cymbals. So we got together and had some fun!
Oh, and this is our lovely model Rachel. You know something cool is about to go down when the photoshoot starts like this.
And here is the artist herself. How awesome is this!?
“I’m a problem solver and a dreamer. I love forging new paths through the thicket of Mixed Media and Design. The product of a landscape painter and a handy-man blacksmith, I have taught myself a love for both traditional media and metal working. Throughout the years I have found endless joy in creating something unique and desirable out of unexpected media. Although I have a passion for helping others bring their own ideas to life; I also take time to express myself through repurposing old materials that have caught my eye on the side of the street or in local thrift shops. I get most of my inspiration from the parallels I find in both human-made machinery and the intelligent design of insects and ocean life.” – Abbey Ducote
“I hope one day my name will be associated with a brand of infinite possibility and fearless experimentation in the world of art and design.” – Abbey Ducote
You can find Abbey’s Cymbali collection on her Etsy shop here and on facebook.
