Now introducing Mr. & Mrs. Chen! I am so excited to share this wedding with you! I met Lucas & Brooke through one of their groomsmen who I went to high school with. Blast from the past! As I got to know Lucas & Brooke, one thing became so evident to me: they are the most-easy going/down-to-earth couple! They initially met at Georgia Tech and their friendship soon became a “I like you more than friends” sorta thing. Before you know it; here comes their wedding day!
Such a beautiful September day spent with their closest friends and family. You guys would never guess it, but this was the day before hurricane Irma hit….not a drop of rain or crazy weather on this day. Even some of their family who were from Florida were already planning on coming to the wedding here in Georgia, so their evacuation plan was already set. I love when good things happen like that! I truly feel as if I was photographing one of my own friends weddings; it was that much fun! Here are some of my favorite images from their day.
You wouldn’t believe it, but each wedding I’ve photographed this year….the bride has worn flats! I myself am definitely not a heals-wearing type of girl, so I find it hilarious that none of the brides this year are either! I knew there something we all had in common!
Brooke’s bridesmaid were so fun! Always helping with her dress and little details throughout the day. You can always tell a lot about a person by the company they keep. And these girls were so funny & kind! A great group of ladies.
The guys were such a cool group! So attentive to taking pictures and following directions (which is not always the case, haha) I think we ended up finishing their pictures early because they were that easy! Can these be the groomsmen at every wedding?
Lucas & Brooke’s ceremony was held at the Perennial garden at the Marietta/Atlanta Hilton. Such a pretty and magical location! I especially loved that Brooke’s brothers walked her down the isle. Such a sweet memory!
The secret to amazing wedding photos is light! I loved that since their wedding was planned a few hours before sunset, the time we had for their couple portraits happened to be around golden hour. The hour when the sun gives off a golden vibe and makes everything extra dreamy. Yes please!
While guest mingled and old friends caught up with each other outside of the reception; I was able to sneak in get a few detail shots of their reception decor inside. I love the baby succulents & light pink details throughout the room. So elegant & pretty.
I think the bride & groom surprised everyone with their choreographed first dance. Ya’ll, it was the best! I was seriously impressed!
As the sun was setting outside, we snuck the bride & groom outside to get these next shots. I loved that we were able to sneak these extra pictures in during the reception.
Now…onto some fun reception dancing!
The night came to a close with their grand exit with bubbles. I think bubbles are becoming my new favorite exit! An oldie but a goodie. When the light hits them just right, they look like sparkles in the air. I love it!
Congratulations to Lucas & Brooke! May you both have a marriage full of laughter and joy! And of course, lots of photos along the way! – Audrey Grace
