Welcome, welcome! If you are recently engaged and have a million things on your mind – you have come to the right place! As a wedding photographer, I get to see so much of what goes on at a wedding and I can’t help but share some insightful info with you. There is just too much goodness to share and I must share this with you!!
If you’d rather watch the video re-cap, here ya go! Or feel free to read along. 😉
You just got engaged and there are so many things going through your mind. After you put that deposit down for your venue and you officially have a wedding date (hallelujah!) – time to get crankin and checking all the vendors off your list of the “book this as soon as we have our date” people. In all the excitement, you quickly realize there are so many vendors to contact and not a lot of time! As many of you know – the good ones get booked fast! So message here, message there – time to contact them all! Mainly to get prices and make sure they are in your budget and such.
Hold up.
You are probably thinking that the first question I wish couples asked was….
Nope. None of those (even though, those are great questions!)
One of the first questions I wish more couples asked me or rather told me was……
The number 1 question I wish couples asked me, “are you available for our wedding date?”
Now, you are probably thinking, who doesn’t ask that?! But really guys, more times than not….I’m usually asking people when their wedding is. “That is all amazing, but when is your wedding???” Thankfully I’ve made this mandatory on my contact form, but I still get a few emails/dm’s without this key component.
I love to hear your ideas and where you want your engagement session and your wedding colors and how you met each other, etc. But, if you don’t have a date picked out, all of those details are diddly squat (is that southern slang?). Because I only photograph 1 wedding a day (and I can’t imagine booking two for the same day…that’s nearly impossible) I would hate to get your hopes up if I am already booked on your date. Unless someone has a cloning machine we can borrow, I can only help you after your date is set!
True story….years ago I had someone email probably 3 times and was dead-set on not telling me her date. Why though??
But to give you the best advice – be sure to let any wedding vendors know what date you have picked out. This will make their lives so much easier. And save you so much time emailing back and forth.
So as a recap….
