This was the most wonderful winter wedding to close out my 2018 wedding season! BJ and Jennifer invited their closest family and friends into their home for their wedding, just a few days before Christmas. I sure do love intimate, backyard weddings. They are so sweet and relaxing! Exactly the vibe Jennifer and BJ were going for. When I first met with them over a cup of coffee, they mentioned that having a huge wedding just wasn’t a part of their personalities and they wanted to focus in on what mattered most to them. And I completely love that about them!
My favorite moment of the day was their private “first look”. If you want to make sure you have the best experience with your photos – don’t be afraid to kick everyone out of the room and enjoy the moment together! As a fly on the wall (with camera in hand) this was one of the sweetest moments for sure! I know they were both so excited and nervous to see each other – it really was a huge sigh of relief and brought them joy to finally be able to see one another!
For their ceremony, they built a custom wedding arbor in their backyard and gathered everyone around for their exchange of vows. Of all the gloomy and rainy days we’ve had in Georgia, this was one of the rare sunshine days. It was glorious!
After exchanging vows and “I do’s”, we took a few portraits of the newly Mr. & Mrs. You would seriously never believe this….but their neighbors yard had such great lighting, we politely asked them “hey, do you mind if we use your yard for photos?” and just like that – we got these incredible images. I am always looking for creative locations! And this was the perfect place for a few sunshine-winter photographs.
Take a look at some of my favorite images from their day!
I completely adore this “first look”. So much love & joy!
We had a few moments before the ceremony, so we took a few portraits in this room to hide them both from their guest – and I just love the lighting!
Time for the ceremony! I loved that they had these cozy blankets for their guest! Such a thoughtful idea.
Now time for a few pictures of the newly Mr. & Mrs! I LOVE this lighting! A huge thank you to Bj & Jennifer’s neighbors for allowing us to take pictures here! I am so glad I went with my “photographers intuition” and asked if we could go here. Worth it!
And it would not be complete without taking a “his & hers” Jeep photos! Talk about relationship goals!
Reception time! I am so impressed by how Jennifer transformed her home into a space for their wedding. And the amazing catering team (Dogwood Catering) did an incredible job!
Congratulations BJ & Jennifer! I will always think of you guys around Christmas time and think of how beautiful your winter wedding was! May your marriage be full of love and laughter and everything fun!
