St. Regis Atlanta Wedding

As Julie described her wedding plans to me when we were first planning out her details, I knew that their wedding was going to be so sweet and so unique to them. Julie and Walker went to the same school – in fact they actually met in kindergarten, became friends in high school and then started dating him in high school.  Talk about being high school sweethearts! When you first meet Julie and Walker they are so low-key and easy going. I would say they both have old souls (not that they are old) but that they both have a sophisticated and classy taste. Which is such a change of pace to the typical weddings that I photograph. I absolutely loved their wedding so much! It has been such a joy to work with Julie and Walker throughout their whole wedding process and I’m so excited to share their wedding on my blog today.

There are a couple of really sweet and unique elements to their wedding day. We first photographed Julie getting ready at Saint Regis in Atlanta where her parents are actually residence. I did not even know that this was a thing and it was such a hidden gem.  They knew all of the secret spots and we were able to take some of the coolest pictures of Julie and Walker based on their suggestions. In fact in one of the photos below, we went to her parents apartment and photographed their family heirloom – a beautiful full length gold mirror. Talk about amazing! Each of the girls in their family has a portrait using the mirror. So unique!

At the reception, they actually coordinated with the Atlas restaurant at Saint Regis to pull in some unique elements for their reception. One of those cool experiences they provide for their wedding guest was a chocolate and whiskey pairing station. Which was so cool to see! All of the guest really enjoyed it! One of Julie & Walkers favorites dates is going out for cocktails, desserts or grabbing some fun apps together. I was so impressed how they were able to incorporate this in their reception by having the cocktail station and also by having slider burgers & fries. Best wedding food ever!

There is a lot of stigma behind the rain ruining your wedding day. Walker & Julie were so upbeat and not at all worried about the rain on their wedding day –  which I feel is very telling of their relationship and shows the things that they value. Of course, me being a professional photographer, I wanted to provide them with some amazing wedding portraits together. Thankfully at the St. Regis & the church there were some really great covered areas. We were able to photograph them and it is really hard to tell that it is raining in these pictures- you might not have even noticed unless I told you. No umbrellas needed!

In Leu of a traditional sparkler exit Julie and Walker,  my second shooter and I set up a quick portrait opportunity for them in the reception space that showcases all of the artwork and elements to their reception. I really think this photo showcases their personalities and things they love- including each other! Which was the focus of the day!

Instead of a large wedding party, they had their sisters stand in as their wedding party and it was great!

We snuck outside to the new garden area of St. Regis – and wow, I’ve never seen anything like this! Very eclectic and colorful!

Back inside, their reception was so cozy & romantic. I loved the candle lit room with touches of golds & greens in the room. So perfect!
