Sam & Katie

Emory Conference Center

I have been so excited to share this wedding for so many reasons! After being together for around seven years, Katie and Sam tied the knot at the Emory Conference Center on this beautiful November day. It could not have been more perfect for them! The sun was shining and the weather was not too hot/not too cold – it was just right! I think it was a true reflection of the joy they were experiencing in their hearts. These two could not stop smiling – and I myself found my own face hurting from smiling right alongside them. SO much joy!! Since Katie’s parents were my next-door neighbors I feel like I was a part of their family as they were planning their wedding; so this wedding was even more special to photograph. I probably took way more photos than I normally do (not because there was more going on) but I think I was trigger-happy and just clicked my heart out because I was just so excited for Katie and Sam.

Because of the time change in the fall it gets dark a lot earlier in the day, so we started the day with their first look. I’m so happy with how we are able to photograph everybody before the ceremony started. It was almost like we had a pre-wedding party with all of Katie and Sam‘s family and siblings. We were able to photograph them and add an extra moment to their wedding day where they all got to hang out a little bit longer together.  Then the ceremony ended as the sun went down and it was so lovely!

For the reception Katie and Sam had Emerald Empire Band and they just added extra extra fun to the reception! Their wedding guests had some amazing dance moves! Live music + fun guest = the best dancing photos. Instead of the typical reception, they started the night with an hour of dancing before dinner and it was a hit!

At the end of the night we all headed outside for their sparkler exit. Little did we know, at the very end of the sparkler line was a pedicab where Sam chauffeured his new bride away. It was so sweet and so them! Of course at the end of the night as I was heading out, Sam and Katie snuck back to say goodbye to all their friends and family. From the corner of my eye I could see Sam throwing a frisbee with some of his friends. Since both Katie and Sam play Ultimate frisbee (that is how they met) I thought it was just the cutest full circle end to their wedding day. Perfect!

Of course special thanks to all of the amazing team of vendors that put everything together and it was so much fun working with this talented group! Let’s do it again soon!

I always love a first look with dad! As we headed to the first look with Sam, I turned around to see Katie’s dad and sister helping her as we walked to the bridge. Such a sweet candid moment!!

I love Sam’s reaction! This location was also the perfect spot for them as it provided a private moment AND amazing light. We then went right into taking their pictures here because it was just so beautiful!

Katie and Sam then read letters they wrote to each other. This was such a nice & quiet moment before the hustle & bustle of the wedding festivities.

A few bridal party photos before the ceremony and we were set! Katie’s grandmother officiated the ceremony – which has to be the sweetest thing i’ve ever seen! She did such an amazing job and had the sweetest look on her face as she was officiating. This was one of my favorite moments at the wedding!

The Emory Conference was a beautiful backdrop for their reception – the twinkle lights added a magical feel to the celebration! Also, can we all just marvel at their ultimate frisbee grooms cake. How perfect is that!?

We took a few night shots at the wedding arbor and it added such a different look to their wedding photos. So dramatic and romantic. Loved how this turned out!

Congratulations Katie & Sam! It was such an honor to be a part of your day! I will always remember your wedding and the sweet times of planning. I’m so happy to know your sweet family and that the Lord brought us all together. May you have the best marriage filled with love, joy and the most amazing adventures together! – Audrey
