Elevate your Wedding Day Details | Atlanta Wedding Photographer

I’m sharing my top tips! Elevate your wedding day details by adding these 6 elements to make your photographers detail loving heart sing.

As a wedding photographer, one of my absolute favorite parts about a wedding day is photographing the details that have been so perfectly thought out by the bride. I love photographing the details when I first arrive to a wedding because it allows me to get in my creative zone & it really sets the style for the whole wedding day.

Wedding Day Paper Goods

I always like to start photographing the wedding day by starting with the paper goods. To get the best shots, I ask my brides to bring me their whole invitation suite and any personalized paper items. Typically this is the formal invitation, RSVP card, details card and ceremony program. Anything they sent to their guests, I want to capture it! I want to paint the whole picture. The style and colors of their invitation suite give such a good representation of the whole vibe for the wedding day. I also love capturing menus, custom place settings and anything that helps to paint the unique style of the day. One of my all time favorite local Invitation designers is The Impressionist . They do such an amazing job creating custom invitation suites for couples!

Timeless Details: Florals

Bridal detail shots that include shoes, jewelry, family heirlooms, perfume can easily be elevated by including your wedding florals. I always check with my couples florist and ask if they can leave extra floral stems or greenery for me if possible. It makes for such a fun way to tie everything together and gives your photos life! Florists are usually more than happy to do this. They love having their work included in every part of the day. And lets be honest- it makes the detail photographs even more dreamy!

Ribbon For your Wedding Day Details

Another unique way I like to elevate bridal details is by adding ribbon. Spare pieces of fabric from a bridesmaid dress are also a great touch. I love adding this unique and modern touch to bridal details because it gives such a personalized yet elegant look to the photos. It really ties everything together! Even adding some ribbon to your bridal bouquet makes it even more romantic; the flowing ribbon adds a touch of softness to your bouquet – which I LOVE! Over the years I’ve collected tons of fabrics but my all time favorite place to purchase artistic ribbons is from FrouFrou Chic. You’ll want to buy one of everything. So browse at your own risk!

Heirloom Details & Wedding Day Momentos

One of the most special and memorable ways to elevate your bridal detail shots is by including family heirlooms and wedding day mementos. Does Grandma have a stunning pendant or brooch she would love to see incorporated? We photographers LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that kind of stuff. Personalized handkerchiefs or scarfs passed down are also such a treasure to include. Another one of my favorite mementos to include is hand written letters or vows. If you and your soon-to-be spouse have written letters or vows to each other; include them in your detail photos. Nothing will bring back the memories and emotions of your wedding day like seeing a photograph of your vows you wrote to each other.

Unique Dress Hanger

One simple tip that can make a big impact on your detail pictures; your dress hanger! Swap out your bridal shop hanger for something more elegant and pretty. Even if it’s something simple and sweet – it is going to look a million times better than the plastic hanger that is included when you purchase your dress. I always suggest my brides check out Etsy for options! There several options to accommodate your style!

Wedding Ring Custom Box

Including a custom ring box is another way to enhance your wedding day details. BONUS- it adds yet another personalized element to your wedding day. My favorite shop that past brides have used is The Mrs. Box . Etsy also has TONS of fun options too. I’ve seen velvet monogrammed boxes and wooden boxes made by the groom or family members. The options are endless here. AND you’ll always have something so special to look back at as a keepsake from your wedding day.

Putting it all together!

One thing I always tell my brides to do is have all of the special items they want photographed, packed away in a box. That way everything is ready for me when I arrive and I don’t have to track them down or worry about not including something special that they had in mind. One secret tip-you’re never going to forget your shoes So I always suggest storing your wedding details in your shoe box! After the wedding day is over- you can swap out your shoe box for something more pretty, and then you now have all of your wedding day treasures together in one place.
